Located on Dunghatti Land
Kempsey is a historic town located on the banks of the Macleay River and serves as the Local Government Area to the Macleay Valley. The valley and its surroundings extend from the beautiful hills to the ocean and is a popular holiday destination. The Dunghutti people are the traditional custodians of the land and have been living and shaping the land for thousands of years.
There is a little something on offer for everyone here – from the expansive beaches & ideal surfing conditions at Crescent Head, to the beautiful camping & fishing spots at the seaside towns of South West Rocks and Hat Head. Inland, one can explore the hills and the bush upriver, with its plentiful choice of camping spots and meandering trails for bushwalkers. The Pacific Highway provides easy access to the neighbouring hubs of Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour.
Residents enjoy not only the temperate climate (cool winters and not-too-hot summers), but also the enviable work-life balance, in the pursuit of activities that can only be dreamt about by city dwellers!
South Kempsey Medical Centre acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands across our region and pays respect to the Elders past, present and emerging. We recognise these lands were never ceded and acknowledge the continuation of culture and connection to land, sky and sea. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia’s First Peoples and honour the rich diversity of the world’s oldest living culture.
